–MEET YOUR CAPTAIN

Captain Damien

For over 26 years, Captain Damian Picciano has been doing what most people only dream about — running offshore into the Gulf of Mexico for a living.

Based out of Siesta Key, Captain Damian built Siesta Key Sport Fishing Charters on a simple idea: put clients on fish, every trip, every time. His credentials are verified, his knowledge of Sarasota's offshore grounds is unmatched, and his commitment to making every angler's day unforgettable is what keeps people coming back year after year.

Our vessel is a 30-foot Carolina Classic, fully restored and rigged for serious offshore sport fishing — twin Volvo 230HP engines, flybridge for spotting game fish, live bait well, and onboard toilet. Fast enough to reach the best spots quickly. Capable enough to handle whatever the Gulf throws at us.

Booking & Payment
The easiest way is to text or call Captain Damian directly to check availability 941-376-FISH, pick your date, and lock in your trip. Once we confirm the details, you're on the water.
A 50% deposit holds your date. The remaining balance is due the day of the trip. We accept cash and all major credit cards.
Cancel 48 hours or more before your trip and your deposit is refunded in full. Cancellations inside 48 hours forfeit 50% of the trip price. No-call / no-show: the full trip price is owed.
Gratuity is not included in the trip price. The industry standard is around 20% of the trip cost — Captain Damian works hard for every fish, and tips are always appreciated.
Day of Trip
We are located at 7650 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231, United States. Once your trip is confirmed, Captain Damian will send you exact meeting instructions, directions, and parking details. Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early so we can load up and get rolling.
Most trips depart early morning. Afternoon and evening trips are available depending on tides and season. Your exact departure time will be confirmed when you book.
Reef-safe sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and a light long-sleeve shirt — the Florida sun is no joke on the water. Bring your own snacks and drinks (BYOB is fine). We provide all rods, tackle, bait, and licenses. A waterproof phone case is a smart call if you want photos.
Glass containers (cans only, please), illegal substances, and pets without prior arrangement. A drink or two is perfectly fine — we just want everyone safe and having a great time out there.
Inshore trips stay in calm, protected water and seasickness is very uncommon. If you're prone, take Bonine or Dramamine the night before and morning of your trip. Eat a light breakfast, stay hydrated, and keep your eyes on the horizon.
Fishing & Species
Siesta Key and the surrounding waters offer fantastic variety depending on the season and target.

Inshore (flats, backwater, mangroves): snook, redfish, speckled trout, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, jack crevalle, and tarpon during their spring and summer migration.

Nearshore & offshore: grouper, snapper, cobia, Spanish and king mackerel, amberjack, sharks, and more.

Captain Damian reads the water and targets whatever is biting hardest — your best trip is his goal every time.
Honestly, there's no bad time. Spring brings the legendary tarpon migration right off Siesta Key. Summer is loaded with snook, snapper, and action on the flats. Fall delivers cobia and thick redfish schools. Winter is prime for sheepshead and trophy trout. Something is always biting.
Yes — Siesta Key Sport Fishing offers inshore, nearshore, and offshore options. Whether you want to stay in the bay or run out to the deep blue for grouper and snapper, Captain Damian can put you on fish.
Yes, within Florida FWC regulations. Slot limits, bag limits, and seasonal closures apply to many species. Captain Damian knows the current rules inside and out and will tell you exactly what's a keeper. Catch and release is always an option for trophy fish.
Yes — fish cleaning is available at the dock on request. Your fillets will be bagged and iced and ready to take home or straight to the grill. Tips for cleaning are always appreciated.
Nope. Your Florida saltwater fishing license is covered for everyone on board under the captain's vessel license. One less thing to worry about.
Group & Family
Up to 6 passengers per charter. Every trip is private to your group — we never combine parties with strangers. Non-fishing passengers who just want to enjoy the boat and the scenery are always welcome.
Absolutely. Captain Damian loves introducing younger anglers to the sport and knows how to keep kids engaged and catching fish. It's one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
Yes. Children 6 and under are required to wear a properly fitted life vest at all times on the boat. We carry vests in the right sizes for every passenger on board.
No experience needed at all. Captain Damian will walk you through everything — how to hold the rod, how to cast, how to set the hook, and how to fight a fish to the boat. First-timers catch fish on this boat all the time.
Weather & Safety
Safety is always the first call. Captain Damian will not run trips through lightning or small-craft advisories. If we have to cancel, you can reschedule at no charge or receive a full deposit refund. Florida weather moves fast — we typically know by the evening before whether conditions are a go.
Yes. Siesta Key Sport Fishing is fully insured and U.S. Coast Guard licensed. The vessel carries all required safety equipment: life jackets for every passenger, throwable flotation, fire extinguisher, flares, VHF radio, and a first aid kit.

Still have a question? Captain Damian would rather hear from you than have you guess.
